James A. Franch, 64, of Howell, Michigan and formerly of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on May 14, 1949, in Phoenix, Arizona to the late Marion A. and Gladys E. (Parker) Franch.

James had many struggles in life. However, he maintained a positive attitude and always did his very best. He was gifted in both knitting and latch-hook.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

James is survived by a brother Thomas (Marcia) Franch Sr. of Niles, a sister Sandra (Robert) Perry of Stone Mountain, Georgia, a special local nephew Tom (Lisa) Franch of Niles, a great-nephew Eric Franch, two great-nieces Megan Franch and Amanda Pearman as well as many other nephews and nieces.

In keeping with James’ wishes, a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at Sumnerville Cemetery.
