Eloise Abbott, 99, of Decatur, passed away Thursday Feb. 6, 2014, in White Oaks Assisted Living in Lawton, Mich.

Eloise was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Decatur, the daughter of Carl and Bernice (VanCurren) Wickett.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur, the Volinia Farm Bureau and the West Valley Homemaker’s Club.  She is a former member of the Vineyard Grange of Grange of Lawton, the Volinia Township school board and 4-H leader.

She married Marion L. Abbott Sept. 21, 1935, in South Bend, Ind. and he preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley Wickett and Bernard Wickett.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin Abbott of Baroda and Bernard (Diane) Abbott of Marshall; a daughter, Marjorie (Let. Col. Ronald, ret.) Goodell, of Talmadge, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a sister, Margaret Wellman, of Los Gatos, Calif., along with several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26 in the Newell Funeral Home, Decatur.

Friend may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery, Decatur, at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur, or hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
