Jean (Vliek) Mick, 88, of Dowagiac and formerly of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis.

Jean was born June, 5, 1925, in Indiana, the daughter of Isiah and Ethel (Memua) Sprang. She was a cook and was formerly employed by White Oaks Assisted Living in Lawton.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Mike) Leighton; a son, Mark Vliek, both of Decatur; four grandchildren, Emily, Amy, Keith (Lauren) and Michael (Ashley); and four great-grandchildren, Levi, Colby, Stella and Makensie.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Mick; three brothers, Elmer, Ed and Bob Sprang.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, Deactur. Arrangements by Newell Funeral Home, Decatur. Memorials may be directed to the family.
