Jennie Lee Shepard, 74, of Niles, formerly of Cassopolis, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in Lakeland Health Center in Niles.

Jennie was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Elkhart, Ind., to Clarence and Ruth (McKilway) Guy. She married Kenneth Eugene Shepard on March 7, 1959, in an army military police wedding in Fort Benning, Ga. He preceded her in death four days before their 50th wedding anniversary on March 2, 2008.

She was also preceded by her parents; a twin brother who died in infancy; and one son, Timothy Allen Shepard.

Jennie was a licensed practical nurse who worked at several area hospitals and nursing homes. She and her husband liked to camp. She was very “crafty,” crocheting and making doll clothing. She loved anything that had to do with family.

Jennie will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Terry) Brown, of Buchanan, and Pamela Larky, of Rock Falls, Ill.; two sons, Kenneth (Dawn) Shepard, Jr., of Niles, and Michael Shepard, of Buchanan; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
