Fire Arts Inc., 305 E. Colfax in South Bend, hosts an exhibit by potter Eric Kaufmann. His exhibit, “Crystalline Glazed Porcelain – Broken, Healing, Whole,” which opens May 4 to  June 28. A reception is from 5 to 8 p.m. May 4.

For this exhibit, Kaufmann created forms that relate to brokenness, healing and the idea of being whole. Traditionally, crystalline glazes are displayed on “pure” forms with a particular favor often shown toward classical vase shapes.

“Many of the vases I have thrown for this exhibit fit into or are influenced by classical vase forms and, indeed, are symmetrical or ‘whole.’ Other pieces in the exhibit that do not fit into this category are in recognition of the process of healing and the beauty inherent in healing and even brokenness.”
