Richard Forest Scott, 81, of Granger, IN and formerly of Buchanan, MI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Dec. 8, 2023, in Mishawaka, IN. He was born on June 1, 1942, in Niles, MI. He was the son of the late John Earl and Betty Jean (Fawcett) Scott.
Richard was a successful business owner of the John Scott Insurance Agency. He enjoyed playing tennis, spending time with family, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was often found socializing with friends. His love for travel was evident with his winter escapes to Arizona and Florida.
Richard is survived by his children, Michele (Mark) Wilson, Brett Scott, and Amy (Todd) Marazita of Niles, MI. He was a proud grandfather to Chad Wilson, Brooke Klug, Derek and Ashley Scott, and Maris, Brock, Mason, Dominic and Isabella Marazita. He was also a great-grandfather to Nash and Coleson Klug, as well as Walker Scott. He leaves behind his sister, Jean (William) Mitchell of Niles, MI, two brothers: William (Karolyn) Scott of South Bend, IN and James (Debra) Scott of AZ, and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Scott of Saginaw, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janet S. (Reader) Scott, and his brothers, Jerry and John Scott.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at 12 p.m., at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd, South Bend, IN 46635. Friends and family may begin visiting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN with military honors.
