Goldie’s life began on Dec. 30, 1921, in Bangor Township, the daughter of Thomas and Marie (Groves) Ibbotson.

She was united in married to Harry A. Johnson on Nov. 11, 1943, in Stevensville.

Her husband preceded her in death in June of 1967.

Goldie enjoyed having her daughters take her to the casino on her birthday, Mother’s Day and any day they were available.

She loved to spend time in her garden and yard, spend time with her family and watch her favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon.

Her loving family includes her daughters and son, Adelia (Jack) Cook of Marcellus, Carol (Bob) Burmeister of Cassopolis and Barbara Singleton, Shirley (Kenneth) Klees, Sandi (Ron) Morseau and Duane Johnson all of Dowagiac, and Betty (Lynn) Adam of Gobles; 25 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren.

Goldie passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at her home in Dowagiac. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Langley.

Her family will gather with friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel.

Her funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dowagiac with Pastor Jeffrey A. Weber officiating.
