Martha Ann Webber, 77, of Smith Road, Berrien Center, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at her residence following an extended illness, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born April 27, 1935, in Reform, Ala., to Ethan and Rose (Zimmermann) Shelton.

Martha attended school in Reform and moved to Berrien Center in 1947 with her family. She worked for Simplicity Pattern Company in Niles and for Shelton Farm Market in Niles. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and caretaker for her parents.

On May 12, 1953, she married Harley C. “Bunk” Webber in LaPorte, Ind. Her husband of 59 years preceded her in death by just a few days, on Aug. 17.

They are survived by daughters; Debra (J.D.) White of Osceola, Ind., Sheryl (Michael) Coburn of Stevensville, Cindy (Bill) Rough of Niles and Pam (Don) Priest of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one on the way. Also surviving is Martha’s father, Ethan Shelton of Niles; and brothers, Ronald (Anna) Shelton of Berrien Springs, James (Betty) Shelton of Granger and Joe (Deb) Shelton of Niles.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her mother; brothers, Norman Jay and Kenneth Shelton; and sister, Diana Jean Marston.

Martha faithfully attended Berrien Center Bible Church, where she was very involved. She would volunteer for many projects and help with funeral luncheons.

Funeral services for Martha Ann Webber will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Berrien Center Bible Church, Berrien Center with the Rev. Mark Smith of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
