Dear editor,

Did you know that there is currently only one major cancer that has a 6 percent, five-year survival rate? That cancer is pancreatic cancer.

This severe disease takes the life of thousands of Americans, and yet it is not one of our top priorities for finding a more advanced treatment to raise that survival rate out of the single digits.

So my question becomes, why there aren’t more courageous congressmen like Fred Upton, right here in Michigan’s great southwest, who are really taking this bill to heart and fighting for it in Congress?

Congressman Upton has supported legislation like this in the past and I expect he will continue fighting the good fight for as long as it takes him to win.

He needs the support of his constituency though; he needs to know that we fully support him and what he does.

So please join me in encouraging Fred to continue his support for this and in supporting Fred this August and November so we help him truly make a difference.
