Alice May (Olsen) Shante, 91 / June 5, 1919-April 27, 2011

Alice went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2011, at the age of 91.

She had resided in Centralia, Wash., for a number of years.

Born June 5, 1919, to C.J. and Esther (Thompson) Olsen in Muskegon, her marriage to Milton Shante took place on June 29, 1940, in Muskegon.

He preceded her in death in 1984.

Alice leaves behind two daughters, Sharrie Shante of Curtis, Wash., and Judy Bussler of Dowagiac.

She leaves five grandchildren, Lori Chabitch of Rochester, Wash., Jeanie Bussler, James (Kristie) Bussler and George Bussler of Dowagiac and Mark Bussler of Bellevue, Neb. , along with 15 great-grandchildren: Andrew and Matthew Bussler, Megan, Joshua, Rachel and Brittney Baker and Sarah Hill, and Joy, Mark, Haylee, Alicia, Natalie, Kalissa, Erica and Bailey Bussler.

Also: three great-great-grandchildren, Tamyra, Sophie and Gabriella.

Two brothers, Robert Olsen and Robert Rydell, preceded her.

She leaves two sisters, Margaret (Mick) Hailey of England and Ruth Tolliver of Olney, Ill., as well as one brother, Ernest (Roberta) Olsen of Nampa, Idaho, and her sister-in-law Arline Olsen of Arleta, Calif.

Alice loved gardening, picking and freezing fresh fruit. She made many beautiful afghans. She was an avid reader and loved solving crossword puzzles.

Yazel-Clark Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac.
