Dale George Forbes, 73, of Baldwin, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at his home. He was born Aug. 23, 1937, to his parents, George and Virginia (Kirk) Forbes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Bertelsen) Forbes, and their four children.

Lynn and Betty Forbes of Anchorage Alaska, their children, Lynn Forbes, Jeremiah and Linda Haggerty, and their five children, Michael and Kimberle Froese of Howard City. Their children Nathaniel and Stacy Froese and their daughter Lily; Ronica Froese and her son Dylan; Andrew and Jenny Froese and their daughters Hailey and Kaylee; and Ryan Froese.

Brad and Julie Petersen of Kelso, Wash. Their sons Donald and Kim Petersen; Nicholas and Jessica Petersen; Joseph and Mandy Petersen; Brad and Melissa Hendrickson and their five children.

Lee and Marion Forbes of Oak Ridge , Tenn.

Their children Rachael Lambertson and her son Zachary and his father Matthew Golden; Alan Forbes; Eric Forbes; and Mason Forbes.

He is also survived by his five sisters. Sharon and Dewain Walz of Decatur; Patricia and Richard Stephenson of Cassopolis; Dawn McDougall of Mesa, Ariz.; Melody and Tom Mason of Mesa, Ariz.;  Jill and Rick Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother-in-law Jack Mitchell of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Judy Mitchell.

Dale and Barbara owned and operated Forbes Farm Market and Auction Service for more than 30 years in Baldwin.

He enjoyed his auctioneering career for more than the last 50 years.

He also loved calling square dances. He worked many years as a bricklayer, but what he enjoyed most of all was being with his family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. at their place of business, 3665 S. M-37, Baldwin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Andre’ Bosse Centers, 905 E. Ludington Ave., Ludington, MI 49431.
