Lester Skibbe hurt in crash

Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood reports his office investigated a personal-injury crash on M-62 near Pokagon Street in Pokagon Township on Tuesday, March 9, at approximately 6:58 p.m. A westbound vehicle driven by Lester Skibbe, 75, of Dowagiac, struck a tractor trailer backing into a private driveway. The tractor trailer was driven by Edward Kiggins, 37, of Dowagiac. Skibbe was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Kiggins was not hurt.

CASSOPOLIS – Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood reports his office investigated a personal-injury crash on M-62 near Pokagon Street in Pokagon Township on Tuesday, March 9, at approximately 6:58 p.m.

A westbound vehicle driven by Lester Skibbe, 75, of Dowagiac, struck a tractor trailer backing into a private driveway.

The tractor trailer was driven by Edward Kiggins, 37, of Dowagiac.

Skibbe was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Kiggins was not hurt.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Indian lake Fire Department, Coloma EMS, Pokagon Tribal Police and Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Unit.

The crash remains under investigation, although, alcohol, speed and seatbelts do not appear to be factors.
