NAPLES, Fla. – Capt. Vincent “Bud” Foster, 83, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Sister Lakes, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at home after a short illness.

Born July 14, 1926, in Chicago, son of Richard and Evelyn Foster, he was a graduate of Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Ill.

Bud was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with the 29th Battalion of the 6th Division during World War II.

He served as a member of the Honor Guard at the formal surrender of arms by the Japanese.

Bud married Juanita “Nitz” Langenderfer on May 8, 1948, in Homewood, Ill.
He was a firefighter in Flossmoor, Ill., while working as a lineman for the phone company.

Working in the family business for many years, he was a builder and became a licensed contractor, starting several successful companies through the years.

In addition, he was a retired police officer (Riverdale, Ill.) and a licensed boat captain.
He was a U.S. Coast Guard U.S. Merchant Marine officer.

His other memberships included American Professional Captains Association, American Legion Hardee Mills Post 135, Fraternal Order of Police, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7369 (Life Member), Moose International and B.P.O. Elks (Life Member).

He was a certified advanced scuba diver and a licensed pilot.

Bud loved his family, friends and his boats, “Another Toy.”

He will be dearly missed by: his devoted wife of 61 years, Juanita; daughters, Valerie (Skip) Hand and Charlotte (Dean) Harrison, both of Sister LakesI; grandsons, Scott Bradford of Grass Lake and Timothy Bradford of Sister Lakes; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many very close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.
