CASSOPOLIS – Sylvia I. Fetter, 66, of Edwardsburg, died early Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Elkhart, Ind., General Hospital as the result of an auto accident.

She was born June 19, 1943, in Elkhart, the daughter of Harold T. Harp and Wilma Reinoehl Harp, both of whom precede her in death.

Sylvia lived her entire life in the Edwardsburg area.

She is survived by: her former husband, Thomas L. Fetter; two aunts, Jean Hoffman of Union and Carolyn Wheeler of Janesville, Wis.; and by a close friend, Alton Love of Elkhart.

Sylvia was a 1965 graduate of Michigan State University and earned a master’s degree at St. Mary’s College, South Bend, Ind.

She had been a school teacher and was a retired supervisor at Cass County Community Mental Health.

She was also vice president and co-owner of STF Inc.

Sylvia was involved with several 4-H groups and was for many years a leader in the 5-H Horse Club.

She had also served as Miss Cass County and went on to become second runner-up in the Miss Michigan pageant.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, Edwardsburg.

Officiating will be Pastor Emilio Martino of First Baptist Church, Union.

Friends may call at Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis, Friday evening from 6 until 8.

Memorials in Sylvia’s name may be made to the 5-H Horse Club, to the 4-H Foundation, to the Cass County Animal Shelter or to the Cass County Council on Aging.
