DUHS golfers eighth at jamboree

VICKSBURG – The Dowagiac golf team finished eighth on Wednesday at the Wolverine Conference Jamboree held at Angels Crossing.

Otsego took first place with a team total of 203.

The Lady Bulldogs were one stroke better than Gull Lake, which shot 204.

Comstock finished third (207), Vicksburg and Plainwell both shot 209 to place fourth and Three Rivers rounded out the top six with a 231.

South Haven was seventh (234), Dowagiac eighth (241), Paw Paw ninth (251) and Allegan 10th (252).

South Haven’s Courtney Gumpert snapped Brittany Haight’s streak of consecutive medalist honors as she shot 41 to best Haight by four strokes.

Dowagiac was led by Haley Smith for the second straight match as she shot 54.

Cassie Stone finished with a 59, Shannon Keene a 63, Erin Corey a 65 and Maggie Cripe a 66.
