DECATUR – Gerald “Barney” Spicher, 77, of Decatur, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at home.

Barney was born Oct. 13, 1931, in Decatur, the son of Carl and Ethel (Osborn) Spicher.
He was formerly employed by Du-Wel in Hartford for several years.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Mae Spicher; a stepson, Sam Burnett; a sister, Helen Mattausch; and brother, Carl Boyd Spicher.

Surviving are: three step-daughters, Wanda McLemore of Lawrence, Jean (Ron) DeGraaf and Vickie Wiles, both of Paw Paw; two stepsons, Jack (Barb) Burnett and Terry (Jennifer) Burnett, both of Decatur; 14 step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret (Aubrey) West of Decatur, Linda Smith of Cassopolis and Sylvia Grissom of Decatur; and two brothers, Lonnie (Joyce) Spicher and Cedric (Linda) Spicher, both of Decatur.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur.
