Lois (Galanda) Anderson, 62, of Lemon Creek Road in Baroda, died at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Buchanan of an illness.

Mrs. Anderson was born Jan. 2, 1949 in Garden, Mich. to Joseph and Ida Mae (Rochefort) Galanda. Lois lived in the Baroda area most of her life.

She was an avid NASCAR fan, especially of the Brickyard 400 and driver Dale Ernhart, Jr. She enjoyed watching her daughter, Candy, drive in stock car drag racing classes at Osceola Speedway. She also enjoyed helping family and friends, camping at Potato Creek Park and fishing at Grand Mere Park.

She was previously married to Edward C. Beckman.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Bryan Beckman, and a brother, Jimmy Galanda.

Surviving family includes a son, Edward J. (Brenda Holt) Beckman of New Troy, Mich.; daughters, Candy Beckman of Buchanan, Brandy Bryant of Benton Harbor and Jill Bryant of Plymouth, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; mother, Ida Mae Galanda of Bridgman; brother, Dulles Galanda of Baroda; and sister, Penny Shook of White Pigeon, Mich.

The family will be hosting a gathering at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at Baroda American Legion Hall.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
