Niles and Brandywine will both compete along with 70 other boys’ and girls’ basketball teams in the 2010 Motor City Roundball Classic hosted by Detroit Country Day High School.

Teams from Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio will compete in the tournament, as well as a team from Toronto, Canada.

The boys’ tournament began on Sunday and continues through Thursday.

The girls’ portion of the tournament begins today and wraps up on Thursday as well.

Niles will begin its two games of competition on Wednesday, Dec. 29 against Flint Northwestern at 1:40 p.m. The Vikings will wrap up competition the following day (Dec. 30) with a noon contest against Detroit Mumford.

The Bobcats will play their lone game of the tournament on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 1:40 p.m. against Belleville.

Benton Harbor and Kalamazoo Central are also playing in the tournament. The Tigers will face Goodrich at noon on Dc. 29, while Kalamazoo Central, who has already faced Niles and will take on Brandywine later this season, will play Dec. 30 against Detroit Consortium Prep at 3:20 p.m.

The Benton Harbor boys’ basketball team will also face Detroit Consortium Prep on Dec. 30. That game is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m.
