Gull Lake wins latest Wolverine jamboree

KALAMAZOO — The fourth time was a charm for the Wolverine Conference golf teams.

Gull Lake was able to unseat Dowagiac from atop the jamboree standings on Friday, edging the Chieftains by three strokes at Eastern Hills.

The Blue Devils shot 157 and Dowagiac160. Otsego was third at 162, Vicksburg fourth at 164 and Paw Paw fifth at 180. Rounding out the order of finish were Plainwell (182), South Haven (184), host Comstock (185), Three Rivers (189) and Allegan (202).

Vicksburg’s Luke Tindall earned medalist honors with a 36.

The Chieftains landed three players in the top 10 as Chris Craft shot 38, Max Howe 39 and Jordan Juday 41. Kyle Ward finished with a 42 and Cody Fairleigh 47.

Dowagiac leads the conference standings with 39 points, Gull Lake is second with 34, Otsego third with 31 and defending league champion Vicksburg fourth with 30.

Lakeland Conference

BRIDGMAN – For the second straight Lakeland Conference Jamboree, defending league champion Edwardsburg cruised to an easy victory.

The Eddies won the opening jamboree by 29 strokes. On Friday at Pebblewood, the Eddies defeated runner-up Buchanan by 19 strokes. Edwarsburg shot a 154 in the make-up match compared to 173 for the Bucks.

Brandywine was third with a 180. Bridgman shot 181, Coloma 197, Cassopolis 201 and Berrien Springs 203.

Edwardsburg’s Austin Tevlin shot 37 to earn medalist honors. Derek Blank of Buchanan, Pierce Bourgeois of Edwardsburg and Blaise Suseland of Cassopolis all finished at 38.
