Kathleen L. (Acker) Rollins, 78, of Niles passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday morning, June 15, 2010.

She was born Jan. 4, 1932 in Boaz, Ala. to the late James and Ludie (Davis) Acker.
On May 30, 1947 Kathleen married the late Billy Rollins at a ceremony in Rising Fawn, Ga. Billy passed away in 1999. In 2004 Kathleen married a life-long family friend, Esten Tucker.

Kathleen worked for many years at Simplicity Pattern. She attended Huntly Memorial Baptist Church and Hope Community Church in Niles and in her spare time enjoyed gardening and always had a love for animals. Most of all, Kathleen treasured her time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, James Earl Acker.
Kathleen is survived by four daughters, Linda (Andrew) Tomasello, of Niles, Barbara (Rick) Casey, of Paw Paw, Michigan, Judy (John) Loca, of Grand Rapids, Mich., Paula (Tim) Hemphill, of Spartanburg, S.C.; a son, Michael (Kim) Rollins, of Elkhart, Ind.; 14 grandchildren, Laura (Steve) Brueck, Brian (Lynette) Tomasello, Jason (Laura) Tomasello, Sean (Kathy) Casey, Shane (Stephanie) Casey, Dana (Gretchen) Olinghouse, Jamie (Melissa) Olinghouse, Brandon (Kristin) Rollins, Sarah Jones, Matthew Rollins, Becca Rollins, Ashley Rollins, Michael Hemphill and Kaitlyn Hemphill; 22 great-grandchildren; and a special great-grand-dog, Tanner.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, June 18, 2010 at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel, 61453 M-51 in Niles, from 6 to 8 p.m. In keeping with Kathleen’s wishes, a private funeral service will be held on Saturday at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ron Smith officiating.
