Buchanan splits league doubleheader with Bees

BUCHANAN – A pair of Lakeland Conference contenders squared off Tuesday afternoon with the hopes of keeping their title chances alive.

When all was said and down, host Buchanan and Bridgman split two games.

Buchanan took the first game 4-3 by scoring two runs in the second and fifth innings.

Bridgman led 2-0 after one inning of play and 3-2 after the top half of the fifth, but could not maintain its advantage.

Bryan Kuntz scattered six hits and earned the victory for the Bucks, who are now 12-7 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

Brandon Jackson had a single and a double for Buchanan.

Bridgman scored four runs in the first and third innings and then held on as the Bucks tried to make a comeback.

Buchanan scored single runs in each of the first three frames and then twice in the fifth.

David Sokolowski took the loss for the Bucks.

Nick Troxel, Kuntz and Jackson all singled and doubled as Buchanan outhit Bridgman 12-9.
