HARTFORD – John Nolan Grissom, 79 of Keeler, passed away suddenly Thursday, June 24, 2010, at his home.

John was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Lexington, Tenn., the son of William and Mandy (Barker) Grissom, both of whom precede him in passing.

Also preceding him in passing were a brother, Bud Grissom, and two sisters, Edith Albertson and Excel Taylor.

John was formerly employed with the City of Benton Harbor and Modar Electronics for a number of years.

He owned and operated the concession stand at Lonnie’s Auction in Benton Heights and also owned Country Touch Nurseries in Keeler Township.

John is survived by: three children, Esther Sotelo of Knoxville, Tenn., John Grissom of Decatur and Hope (Kirk) Davis of Canal Winchester, Ohio; his former wife, Hannah Grissom of Stevensville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Inel Taylor of Missouri.

The family welcomed friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where the service to honor his memory commenced at 7:30 p.m.

Following the services, cremation will take place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
