Margaret May Abair / July 15, 1921 – Nov. 26, 2009

Margaret May Abair, 88, returned to her home and Savior on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.

She was born on July 15, 1921 in Buchanan to the late Harlow (Larry) H. and Minnie E. (Thompson) Smith. The oldest of three daughters, she is survived by her sisters, Betty (Herbert) Russell of Buchanan, and Geraldine (Albert Jr.) Siekman of Niles, Michigan.  After graduating from Buchanan High School in 1939, she married Kenneth C. Herman and after setting up home in the Clear Lake area raised her five sons, who all survive; Larry Herman, of Sun Valley, Nev., Richard Herman, of Raiford, Fla., Charles (Tanya) Herman, of Vandalia, Marvin (Amy) Herman, of Fenton, Mich., and Mark (Margie) Herman, of Niles.

After returning to Buchanan, Margaret became a member of the Faith Victory Fellowship in Buchanan and was a true believer in the Salvation of the Lord.

In 1967, Margaret married Boyd K. Abair and resided in Niles until they retired to Bradenton, Fla., until his death in 1986, at which point she eventually returned to her roots in Buchanan. Also surviving are her stepchildren, Connie (John) Marburger of Bradenton, Florida, Ruth Abair, of South Bend, Roseanna (Fred) Jean, of Mooresville, Ind., and David (Brenda) Abair, of Plymouth, Ind., along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Margaret’s final resting place will be in Florida next to her beloved husband, Boyd. A memorial service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at Faith Victory Fellowship Church.
