Jack Henry Ort, 74, of 2216 Floral Court, Niles, died at 8:36 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at Hospice House in South Bend of natural causes.

Jack was born July 9, 1935 in Niles, where he was a lifelong resident. He married Priscilla (Laudenslager) Ort on Nov. 30. 1957 in Niles. He retired from Buchanan Steel and was a member of First Church of Christ in Niles and belonged to a “special” Saturday night bowling gang.

Jack is survived by his wife, Priscilla; sons, Jack (Roberta) Ort Jr., of Niles, Gregory (Stephanie) Ort, of Spartenburg, S.C.; daughters, Debbie (Steve) Shoemaker, of Niles, Rhonda (Barry) Nichols, of Niles; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death his parents, Harold and Genevieve Ort.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at First Church of Christ, 2240 Yankee St., Niles with Pastor Bob Jackson officiating.
