Ann B. Howard, 89, of Cassopolis, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the Cass County Medical Care Facility after an extended illness.

She was born Jan. 31, 1920 in Niles, the daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (Dickeson) Coffinger. She married Charles Curtis Sr. on Sept. 27, 1942 in Niles and he preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1963. She then married Jesse E. Howard on July 11, 1970 in Cassopolis and he died May 24, 1997.

Ann was a retired laundry worker with the Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Cassopolis. Ann most loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Ann is survived by her two children, Barbara Mesko and her husband, James, of Cassopolis, and Charles Curtis Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Dowagiac; six grandchildren, Karen Wright, Amy (Rodney) Waldschmidt, Jill (Kevin) Hershberger and Elizabeth (Al) Strukel, all of Cassopolis, and Scott Cutis and Dondi Porter, both of Elkhart, Ind; 11 great-grandchildren, Andrew Hershberger, Arminda Hershberger, Emily Waldschmidt, Sarah Wright, Mary Wright, Jimmy Strukel, Gracie Struckel, Mackenzie Porter, Nathan Porter, Rylie Porter and Aden Curtis.

Ann was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Frank Coffinger, George Coffinger, Henry Coffinger, Dorothy Nichols, Tom Coffinger, June Nesaros, Russell Coffinger, Paul Coffinger and Henrietta Coffinger.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis. Her pastor, the Rev. Stephen Kaszar, will be officiating.

Internment will be in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Sumnerville, Mich.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
