William Daniel Carlisle, 88, of Days Avenue, Buchanan, died at 5:42 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Niles, with Brad Lomax of the church, officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1921, in Oak Park, Ill. to Daniel and Pearl Carlisle.
He was a lifelong area resident.

He was a machinist, die sinker, at Buchanan Steel Products/National Standard in Buchanan.

On Sept. 20, 1952, in Buchanan, he married Betty Sue Carlisle, who survives.
Additional surviving family include a son, Michael Newton (Sue) Carlisle of New Paris, Ind.; three grandchildren, Angela Sue (Earl) Otto, Andrew michael Carlisle and April Leigh (Nate) Morr; four great-grandchildren, Emileigh Otto, Kayleigh Otto, Rhyan Otto and Parker Morr; and a sister, Phylliss Berry of Syracuse, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian LaValle.
