Lois L. Donahue, 88, of Emmons Street in Niles, died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at

her home following a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Niles to Verlin M. and Olive P. (VanLue) Williams. She was a lifetime resident of Niles. She was employed as a personal assistant to the Honorable Robert Grant, a federal district judge in the State of Indiana.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles. She was president of Westside PTA; a lifetime member of the Ladies Reading Club; a life member and sustainer of the Niles Service League; and a member of the Orchard Hills and Signal Point country clubs.

On June 26, 1948, in Niles, she married Edwin J. Donahue, who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1973.

She is survived by their children, Patricia (Dan) Eycleshymer of Niles, Deborah (Rick) Hendricks of Saline, Mich., Jane (Tim) Pellerin of Treasure Island, Fla., and son the

Honorable John M. Donahue of Niles; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, June Frucci and Betty Russom, and brothers, Ben and Dale Williams.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Lois L. Donahue will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Niles (due to construction at St. Mary’s) by the Rev. William T. Melody of Notre Dame, Ind. Committal rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.

Contributions in memory of Lois may be made to Hospice at Home, Fernwood Botanical Gardens or the Niles District Library.
