BANGOR — The Dowagiac soccer team improved to 2-0 with a victory over host Bangor Thursday night.

The Chieftains scored three first half goals en route to a 5-1 win over the Vikings, who drop to 0-2-1 on the season.

Breanna Williams had a pair of first half goals, while Kelsie Primley added a goal and two assists.

Lauren Krueger opened the scoring 10 minutes into the match. Williams’ two goals made 3-1 at halftime.

Marilyn Gallegos had the lone goal for Bangor.

In the second half, Brooke Parritt and Primley capped the scoring.

“The girls moved the ball real well tonight,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “They really just moved the ball well from front to back and from side-to-side. It looked like soccer the whole time. Our goal was to not get into kickball with them. We didn’t and that’s the reason we were successful tonight.”
