ROUNDUP: Niles’ Thompson, Shepherd win Big Hill titles

THREE RIVERS — Kaylee Thompson and Adam Shepherd of Niles both captured first place at the Big Hill Invitational hosted by Three Rivers Tuesday.

Thompson posted a time of 20:46 to easily outdistance runner-up Maliyah Alexander-Gore of Marshall, who ran a 20:57.

Jackson won the team title with 85 points. Niles was second with 91 points.

Shepherd ran a time of 18:04 to win the boys race over Jonah Maichel of Paw Paw, who finished with an 18:31.

Marshall won the team title with 47 points. Marshall was second with 75. Niles finished ninth with 224 points.

 

Brandywine soccer

ST. JOSEPH — A.J. Deweered scored a pair of goals as Michigan Lutheran defeated visiting Brandywine 4-2 in the Bobcats’ season opener.

Clayton Adams and Bryce Taberski scored for Brandywine.

 

Edwardsburg soccer

STEVENSVILLE — Anthony Castelluci had the lone goal as Edwardsburg dropped a 2-1 non-conference decision to Lakeshore Tuesday night.

Mikey Tibbits had both goals for the Lancers.
