EDWARDSBURG — Senior Chloe Bartz does not usually check her email until later in the evening after she has attended school, practice or played a game for the Edwardsburg girls basketball team and homework.

So, she was the last person to find out that she was named a finalist for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Award.

It was her mom, Edwardsburg teacher and tennis coach Kim Bartz, who congratulated her on being named a finalist and breaking the news.

“I was not at school the day I received the email,” Chloe Bartz said.
