Donna Herrmann, 88, of Niles, passed away at Memorial Hospital on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, after a short illness.

Donna was born on Nov. 28, 1929, to the late Jesse and Crystal (Rife) Montz in Dowagiac. Donna lived a full life in the pursuit of her many interests, hobbies and vocations. She was an avid collector and had a vast knowledge of antiques, figurines and memorabilia of all types and themes. In addition to her family and friends, Donna was passionate about anything associated with the University of Notre Dame and watching golf, particularly Tiger Woods. There was also a very special place in her heart for the men and women of our military services.

In 1953, she married the love of her life, Robert Adams, of Berrien Springs. Bob, as he was known, was an Air Force veteran and their family lived and traveled the world over during his 27-year active duty career. They settled in Niles upon his retirement, where they managed the Lakeview Lounge on Barron Lake. Bob preceded her in death in January 1980. Donna later married her high school friend Bill Herrmann, of Niles in 1987; Bill preceded her in death in 2000. She resided in Niles the rest of her life and enjoyed the company of her family and close friends.

In her later years, Donna traveled frequently with friends; Betty Zellers, Jeanie Mills and others; and regularly dined with her “Lunch Bunch” buddies; Marge Soland, Katherine and Mike Ross, Rita and Jack Gustafson, as well as Betty and Jeanie.

Donna is survived by her children, Mike (Lana) Hand, of Niles, David (Arlene) Adams, of Racine, Wisconsin, and Donna Adams, of Granger, grandchildren, Steven Adams, of Franksville, Wisconsin, and Karin Adams, of Green Bay, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Ruth Anne Adams and Kaylee Adams, both of Franksville, Wisconsin; sisters, Karol, Linda, Kathleen, and Marsha of the Michiana area; brother Dale of Lubbock, Texas and many extended family members and friends.

Donna’s family will be hosting a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17, 2018, at Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, 219 South State Street, Niles, MI 49120. Following the service, a visitation will be held at Buchanan American Legion, 403 East Front Street, Buchanan, MI 49107.
