After college, John entered Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) serving in Harvey, Illinois. He then followed a dream of working for the Good Guys in San Francisco in audio sales. While there, a manufacturer representative saw his talent and offered him a position. This led to his eventual own company, retirement and continued consulting services.

In addition to Ellen, John is survived by his sisters, Karin (Sam) Niehans of Jamestown, North Carolina and Ingrid (Tim) Yonker of Boca Grande, Florida. Many nieces and nephews shared mutual love.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being completed by the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Services. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
