Taleena Ann Grice-Smaltz, 50, of Edwardsburg, formerly of Elkhart and Cassopolis, passed due to being struck on her bike, by a truck, the morning of Sept. 20, 2018, at the scene of the accident. She was on her way to work in Edwardsburg when this accident occurred.

Taleena was born July 28, 1968, in South Bend, the daughter of Ellen (Kovacs) and John L. Grice. She graduated from Cassopolis High School and has lived in the Michiana area all of her life.

Surviving is her husband Timothy J. Smaltz, her mother Ellen (John) Stangland, of Jones, her father John Grice, of Niles, her children; Rebecca Harris, Kelly Harris and Derrick Smaltz, all of Dowagiac, four grandchildren; Kayden, Kamron, Shaun and Evelyn.

Also surviving are her sisters; Cristal (Robert II) Grice-McLaughlin, of Osceola and Jeanie Sue Haines, of Edwardsburg and a brother Michael (Deannia) Miller, of Land-O-Lakes, Florida. Surviving aunts and uncles are; Marilou Thomas, of Chesterfield, Indiana, Paul Kovacs, of Edwardsburg, Michael Grice of Cassopolis and eight nieces and nephews.

Family who preceded her in passing is a nephew, John J. Grice.

Family and friends may gather from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main St., Edwardsburg, for a Memorial Celebration of her life. The Service will begin at 6 p.m.
