LAGRANGE TOWNSHIP — A Dowagiac man was injured in a single-vehicle crash in LaGrange Township Sunday evening, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Jared Green, 34, was a passenger in a vehicle that left the roadway on Schurte Street, east of M-62, before striking a tree.

Green was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. A second passenger was uninjured, and was wearing his seatbelt. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the crash prior to police arriving.

Officers suspect alcohol was a factor in the accident.

The Pokagon Tribal Police, Central Cass Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance assisted the sheriff’s department at the scene.
