Niles area residents remembered those who lost their lives Sept. 11, 2001 at a memorial service Monday night at Riverfront Park. Taps was performed by Niles High School students Blayne LeClaire and Ashley Shortman. The service was organized by Vice Commander of Post 26, Niles, Odie Stewart. Around 30 people attended, including Niles City firefighters and police officers. Another taps performance will take place on Veterans Day.
