County Democrats hosting annual party Saturday

The Cass County Democratic Party will celebrate at its annual Summer Party from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature a political comedy act at 3 p.m., candidate presentations at 4 p.m., silent auction, and sloppy Joe dinners. Five candidates running for the 6th District in the House of Representatives (Fred Upton’s seat) will be there, along with Dean Hill who is running for the 78th District in Michigan’s State House.

The “Color Us Blue” thrift shop, located on the premises, will be open and ready with many new items — all discounted 20 percent.

It is not necessary to be a member of the party or have any particular interest in politics. Everyone is invited to enjoy the presentations, have dinner, bid on silent auction items, meet new friends, and browse through the thrift shop. Organizers say it will be a good time to get to know the candidates and get registered to vote, organizers said.

The Cass County Democratic headquarters is located at 804 E. State St., Cassopolis, near Family Dollar. For more information call (269) 445-1651 or visit the website at casscountydems.com.
