Sean Carmody, 30, of Dowagiac, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, in St. Joseph.

Sean was born Aug. 2, 1986, to Michael Carmody and Miriam Wilkinson. After Michael passed away, Miriam wed Nati Aguirre.

Sean attended Buchanan High School and later earned his GED. He thoroughly enjoyed the traditions of the Pokagon Tribe and loved sharing those with his family. He spent much of his free time with his family, practicing tribal traditions and even making a Medicine Wheel by hand for his son. Sean was previously a drummer at the Oshke-Kno-Kewéwen Traditional Pow Wow.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Carmody, and his brother, Ivan Aguirre.

Sean is survived by his stepfather and mother, Nati and Miriam Aguirre of Dowagiac; children Faith, Gabriel and Isabelle Carmody; brother Craig Neidlinger of Sodus; and countless extended family members and close friends.

A time of visitation will be hosted from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles, and from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017. Funeral services to honor Sean’s life will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a traditional Pokagon blessing.
