Cass County Board of Commissioners (April 6)

Consent agenda: The commissioners approved the following items, through a one-time roll call vote:

• Motion approving claims dated March 24, 2017.

• Motion to approve purchase of emergency replacement of GPS radio receiver for fire radio system.

• Motion to award the bid and enter into a contract for equalization appraisal studies and supportive services to CSZ Services,

• Approval of the March 16, 2017 BOC Work Study minutes and the March 16, 2017 Regular meeting minutes.

• Motion to approve reappointment of Judy Brown to the Woodlands Behavioral Healthcare Network Board for a three-year term ending March 31, 2020.

• Motion to set follow up Work Study with Lew Bender for either Monday, June 19th or Friday, June 23rd at SMC. Yes: Commissioners File, Dyes, Ziliak, Marchetti and Cobb. No: None. Absent: Commissioners Ausra and Grice.

Extension to CBA: Commissioner File moved, seconded by Commissioner Dyes, to approve or otherwise ratify an extension to CBA. There was no discussion. Yes: voice vote.

Cass County Board of Commissioners (April 20)

Consent agenda: The commissioners approved the following items, through a one-time roll call vote:

• A motion approving Claims dated April 7, 2017, in the amount of $471,445.09.

• Resolution to adopt the 2017 county equalization report. Yes: Unanimous.

Payment to SWMPC: Commissioner Marchetti moved, seconded by Commissioner File, to approve payment of invoice #173 in the amount of $10,981.00 to Southwest Michigan Planning Commission for 2017 services. Yes: Unanimous.

Planning commission resignation: Commissioner Ziliak moved, seconded by Commissioner Marchetti, to accept the resignation of Robert Benjamin from the Southwest Michigan Planning Commission. Yes: voice vote.

Closed session: Commissioner Ausra moved, seconded by Commissioner File, to enter closed session in order to discuss union negotiations and to consider material exempt from disclosure under state or federal statute via Section 8(h). In addition to all board members, the closed session included Administrator Folks, Finance Director Steinman, Sheriff Behnke, Undersheriff Roach, Attorney Leigh Schultz and Clerk/Register Monica Kennedy.

Yes: Commissioners Dyes, Ziliak, Marchetti, Cobb, Ausra and File. No: Commissioner Grice.

Recommendation: Commissioner Ausra moved, seconded by Commissioner Cobb, to follow the recommendation of Attorney Schultz. Commissioner Grice requested a roll call vote. Yes: Commissioners Ziliak, Cobb, Ausra and File. No: Commissioners Dyes, Marchetti and Grice.
