His rest follows a courageous struggle with liver cancer, cirrhosis, and renal failure. Jerry was born April 28, 1944, in Niles, Michigan, to William Henry Bolton and Vera Mae Sipe.

He achieved Star Rank in the Boy Scouts of America, and attended Niles High School. Then Jerry served in the United States Navy on the USS Jamestown, AGTR-3. After naval service, Jerry studied History and Education at Ferris State College and Western Michigan University, graduating in the early 1970s. He returned to WMU for a degree in Psychology in the 1980s.

He married Beverly Jeane Williams, of Niles, on March 22, 1968.

Jerry was active in the community, as a Scout leader, and as an AYSO Soccer coach, referee, and commissioner. He was a brewer, craftsman, carpenter, sailor, hunter, fisherman, and marksman. He worked as a vocational counselor at the Veterans Administration in Battle Creek, Waco, Temple, and Austin.

After Beverly’s death in 2000, Jerry eventually re-married to Julie Bensko on September 22, 2001.

In death, Jerry was preceded by first wife, Beverly, and his step daughter Aurora.

He is survived by his sister, Denise Weir; his nephews Rory Weir and Roger Weir; his son Cameron and daughter Jillian; his wife, Julie; his stepson Peter; his step daughters Dagmar and Beatrice; and grandchildren Timothy James, Emily, Isis, Raini, Nasreen, William, Sarah Grace, Sophia, Genevieve, and Felicity.

Private services will be held May 4, 2016 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Known for his dry wit, deadpan delivery and drive to do the best for his family and community, Jerry remains a beloved father, brother, husband, uncle, and grandfather who will be remembered fondly.
