Richard Joseph Carmody, Sr., 80, of South Haven, passed away Jan. 6, 2016, at the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven. He was born Dec. 24, 1935, to Leo and Marguerite (Casserly) Carmody in Chicago, Illinois. Richard graduated from Lawrence High School. He later attended Michigan State University, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Agriculture. Richard was an avid sailor and owned and operated Midway Marina in Sister Lakes, Michigan for over 25 years.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his siblings – James Carmody, Kathy Mercer, and Jean Sweet.

Richard is survived by his children – Roxanne Soethe of St. Joseph, Michigan, Rick Carmody of Stevensville, Michigan, Beth Kohlheim of Wolcottville, Indiana, and siblings – Leo Carmody of Green Valley, Arizona, and Margie Boley of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
