Katherine Franklin, 77, of Cassopolis, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at her home with her family.

Katherine was born December 21, 1937 in Calvin Township, Michigan to David and Loretta (Lane) Matthews, who preceded her in death.

Katherine was employed at Michigan Bell Telephone Company for many years in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She then married William Franklin in 1960 and moved to Cassopolis, Michigan in 1962 where she resided until she passed away.

Katherine will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of fifty five years, William Franklin of Cassopolis, Michigan; four children, Gregory Franklin of Jacksonville, Florida, Philip (Linda) Franklin of Niles, Michigan, Sonya Franklin of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Rodney Franklin of Chicago, Illinois; six grandchildren, Travis Franklin of Los Angeles, California, Jovan Franklin of Grand Rapids, Michigan, DeMarcus Franklin of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Matthew Blanks of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Isaiah Franklin of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Cher Hale of Las Vegas, Nevada; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Priscilla Gill, Rosalene Richards, Arlene Wilson, Darlene (Daniel) Abdullah, all of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis. Mrs. Franklin will be laid to rest in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Cassopolis.

Katherine was a long time, dedicated member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cassopolis. The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Katherine’s name to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 23247 Hospital Street, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031-9644.
