Dorothy Mae Blassingame, 79, of Dowagiac, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Timbers of Cass County surrounded by family and friends. Dorothy was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Turner, Michigan to Joe Sr. and Whirley (Chavers) Petri.

She served as the pastor at Victory Tabernacle in Dowagiac for over 30 years. Dorothy served the community of Dowagiac for over 40 years. Family was very important to her and she loved her home and church family.

Dorothy dedicated her life to spreading the gospel to everyone, guiding many men and women to preaching and teaching the word of God.

She is preceded in death by husband, Hodge Blassingame; parents, Joe and Whirley; brother, Joe Petri Jr, Bernerd Petri; sisters, Cora Zidermen, and Katie Shutte. Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at Victory Tabernacle, Dowagiac. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, also at Victory Tabernacle.
