Peggy Lenelle Towery, formerly of Niles, Michigan, died April 25, 2015, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Peggy was born in New Edinburg, Arkansas, on March 1, 1929, to Sidney and Eula (Balentine) Harrelson. In 1947 she married Bobby Lee Towery from Kingsland, Arkansas. In 1949 they moved to Niles, Michigan to seek employment and raise their children.
After retiring from Electro Voice in Buchanan, Michigan, after 30 plus years they moved to Seminole, Florida. In the mid 1990s they moved back to Kingsland, Arkansas, to spend more time with friends and relatives and to build a new house on the site of the old family home.
Peggy enjoyed playing golf on the old Electro Voice League for several years. She love dancing, especially square dancing which took them to the national conventions in Detroit, California, New Orleans and Texas. She was an avid reader, she loved to sew (often making her own square dance costumes) and was a wonderful cook. For several years she was her church’s treasurer as well as driving the bus to pick up the kids who did not have a way to get there.
Peggy is survived by her son Preston Towery (Janet) of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Her daughter is Linda Towery Fox (Clifford) of Buchanan, Michigan. Three grandchildren, Steven Towery (LeAnn) of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Laura Towery Roberts (Eddie) of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Chris Towery Pearson (John) of Western Grove, Arkansas. She also is survived by five great grandchildren and a sister Virginia Hillman of Viloina, Arkansas. Two sister in laws survive, Ila Towery McKeever of Hensley, Arkansas, and Pauline Harrelson Grissom of Warren, Arkansas.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, two brothers Wilton Harrelson of Niles, Michigan, and Garland Harrelson of Warren, Arkansas, and her husband of 50 years Bobbie Lee Towery.
