Essie Smith, 94, of Niles, was called home on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles.

She was born on July 24, 1920 in Saline, Louisiana to the late John D. and Josephine (Lewis) Jenkins. She married Odges Smith and he preceded her in death along with a son Lance Smith.

She is survived by a daughter Gloria D. Smith of Niles, as well as two sisters, 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and those she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Niles with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Niles.
