Dennis “Duck” Lawson, Sr., age 62, of Cassopolis, died Friday, March 13, 2015 in Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

He was born September 30, 1952 in Niles, Michigan to Darwin and Geraldine (Christopher) Lawson. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded by three sisters, Earnestine Pompey, Imogene Wares, Judith Ann Williams, and two brothers, Elger Haithcox, and Jepthia Haithcox.

Duck loved to go to Lee’s Famous Chicken in Kalamazoo. He loved his burgers, fried potatoes and ice cream.

Duck will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two sons, Dennis Lawson, Jr., of Cassopolis, Cydric (Kayta) Lawson of Lansing; three grandchildren, Deon Lawson, Amari Jones, Jeremiah Jones; one sister, Yvonne (John) White of Cassopolis; one brother, Roger (Barbara) Lawson, Sr. of Cassopolis; former wife and close friend, Deborah Fouche’ of Cassopolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather from 6 p.m. until time of service at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, in Calvin Community Chapel, 18770 Mt. Zion Street, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Robbie Lawson officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Duck’s name to Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
