Roger Lee Beardslee, age 80, of Cassopolis, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, in his residence.

He was born May 1, 1934 in Cassopolis, Michigan to Richard and Vera (Keesler) Beardslee. He married Patricia Ellen Hoffman October 24, 1952 in Cassopolis, Michigan. She preceded him in death in 2012 after almost 60 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter in law, Linda Jo Beardslee; and one brother, Phillip Beardslee.

Roger loved his family and he loved golf. He was proud of his yard and kept his lawn mowed as straight and clean as a golf course. Roger was always smiling. His daughter says she will most miss his hugs. Roger enjoyed Friday nights at the Moose Lodge in Elkhart and Goshen with his son. His family finds it hard to put in words the thousands of things they will miss about their dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Roger will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one daughter and son in law, Cindy and Terry Wright of Cassopolis; one son, Robert Beardslee of Jones; four grandchildren, Eric (Erika) Wright of Cassopolis, Kristen (Scott) Sawica of White Lake, Stephanie (Lyle) Drogula of Cassopolis, Rachel (Patrick) Kane of Three Rivers; five great grandchildren, Melinda Drogula, Emma Drogula, Lily Kane, Lauren Kane, and Nadia Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Monday, March 16, 2015 from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with Jeff Bruens officiating. Mr. Beardslee will be laid to rest beside his wife in Poe Cemetery in Jones, Michigan.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Roger’s name to Gaddes Foundation, Post Office Box 100, Union Lake, Michigan 48387.
