Carolyn J. Asmus, of Niles

Carolyn J. Asmus, 87, of Niles, Michigan died on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 at Silverbrook Manor following an extended illness. She was born March 20, 1927 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Earl and Grace (Campbell) Sellers.

Carolyn graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1945. She was a lifetime resident of Niles was employed at the former Tyler Refrigeration for more than twenty-seven years before retiring in 1988. Carolyn was a member of Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Niles where she was involved with the Women’s Fellowship. Christian education was of utmost importance to her; she taught her Sunday School class and her family many important lessons. She was also a volunteer at Love, Inc. in Niles.

In 1947 in Niles, Carolyn married Leon G. Asmus, he survives in Niles with sons, Kevin D. (& Melissa) Asmus and Clifford V. (& Barbara) Asmus of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Andrew L. Asmus and Mark P. Asmus; and siblings Betty Jones and Berwin Sellers.

The family will gather privately for services.

Donations in memory of Carolyn may be made to Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Niles.
