State needs new voices in Lansing

Since being elected State Senator and State Representative, John Proos and Al Pscholka have voted to raise individual income taxes by $1.4 billion, to increase the tax burden for senior citizens, and to decrease state support for public education.

As a result of their actions, and those of their Republican colleagues, the rate of job growth in our state has been significantly reduced, the financial security of seniors has been compromised, and our public schools are struggling to maintain critical educational programs.

Democratic candidates Bette Pierman (State Senator) and Dr. Eric Lester (State Representative) would not have supported the harmful legislation that Proos and Pscholka voted for. Pierman and Lester believe that the way forward for our state is to stimulate economic growth from the middle out, not the top down. They believe that destructive Republican tax policies need to be replaced with policies that put more money in the hands of middle and lower income individuals and families and that reduce the tax burden on senior citizens. They believe that education is the key to our future and they will support increased funding for our public schools.

Our state needs fresh voices and a fresh outlook in Lansing. Please join me in voting for Bette Pierman and Dr. Eric Lester on Nov. 4.
