Mamie Davis, 80, of Niles, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, Indiana.

She was born on Sept. 10, 1933, in La Fayette, Alabama to the late Adam and Susie Mae (Copland) Scott.

On Sept. 24, 1956, Mamie married Love Davis at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan. She worked for over 25 years at Simplicity Pattern Company in Niles as a pattern folder and in the re-order department. Unable to sit idle, Mamie worked as a crossing guard for the Niles School District where she greeted children and parents every morning at Eastside School.

Mamie enjoyed fishing, quilting and was a gifted gardener. She was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as president of the Usher Board for many years as well as an usher. She had a heart that reached out to many and was loved by all. Her presence will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Love Davis, two brothers John and Randolph Scott and a sister Minnie Finley.

Mamie is survived by her loving children, Phyllis (Walter) Meeks of Saginaw, Lester (Tammie) Davis of Niles, Treada Davis of Niles, Alice (Felton) Davis-Johnson of South Bend, Terry (Tina) Davis of South Bend and John Adam Davis III of Niles; two sisters, Louise Abner of La Fayette, Alabama and Betty King of La Fayette, Alabama; a brother, Jack Scott of Niles; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and as a host of nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at 601 Ferry Street with Pastor Bryant L. Bacon, Sr., officiating. A time of visitation will begin one hour prior. An interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
