Bonnie Jo Talaga, 68, of Chicago and formerly of Niles, passed away at 3 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Norwegian American hospital of natural causes.

She was born on Dec. 9, 1945, in Niles, to Mildred Petner and George Laudenslager.

Bonnie was a beloved wife, other, sister, grandmother and aunt. She met her beloved husband in 1980 and they married in 1998. Joe helped complete her life as they were the happiest together, and he was by her side to the end, hand in hand.

Surviving family include her husband, Joe Talaga, of Chicago; her daughters, Lori Kane Vega, of Tampa, Florida, Barba Kane, of Chicago, Denise Kane Hall of Elkhart, Indiana, Michelle (Joseph) Talaga-Wrona, of Illinois and Cheryl (Craig) Talaga-Reuter, of Illinois.

She was a grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren, Brittney Herman, of Elkhart, Jackson and Jeremy, of Reuter, Illinois and Joseph and Michael Wrona of Illinois.

Siblings include sisters, Barbara Huffaker, of Texas, PriscillaOrt, of Niles, Linda Monica, of Niles, brothers David 9teena) Penter, of Niles, Robert (Nancy) Penter, of Mishawaka, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dakotah Herman, her mother and father, a sister, Vickie Penter, two brothers, Michael Penter and Buddy Schultz and two brothers-in-law, Jack Ort and Skip Monica.

The service of remembrance will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the First Church of Christ, located at 2240 Yankee St., in Niles. Officiating will be Reverand David Szymczak.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
